DepartmentMULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS (BL-MULT-IUBLA)Department InformationBased on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University, the Asian Culture Center (ACC) aims to promote awareness, understanding, and acceptance of Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures, history, and issues as an integral part of the fabric of American life in the United States.The ACC, a program of the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, accomplishes this through advocacy, institutional resources, cultural and educational support, and community outreach activities that promote participation and dialogue with students, faculty, staff, and residents of Indiana.Job SummaryDepartment-Specific Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages programming and events that highlight AAPI cultures, and support Asian/Asian American student experiences, collaborating with various campus partners.
  • Oversees APA thematic community assignments. Manages housing assignment process, attend meetings, monitor applications, and coordinate with other staff.
  • Participates in campus-wide committees and work groups to improve Asian/Asian American students' experiences.
  • Manages marketing efforts, including social media, newsletters, website updates, and respond to media inquiries.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, supervision, and professional development of student volunteers and staff.
  • Provides administrative support for the center, including office equipment maintenance, policy development, and acting as a resource for staff inquiries.
  • Oversees financial transactions, reconcile accounts, assist with budgets, and advise on the appropriate use of university funds.
  • Supports the writing, editing, and proofreading of communications, reports, and newsletters; manage the department's email account and website updates.General Responsibilities
    • Manages a small project, from start to finish, or 1 phase of a large project, ensuring on time completion within budget.
    • Develops project plan(s) and efficiently analyzes, tracks, forecasts, and reports on project metrics and shortfalls.
    • Reports on progress and provides regular updates to upper management.
    • Coordinates and communicates between various areas; conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports.
    • Collaborates with other departments to ensure that project objectives are achieved within established time frames.
    • May provide guidance and support to non-exempt staff.QualificationsCombinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. EDUCATIONRequired
      • Bachelor's degree in relevant fieldPreferred
        • Master's degree in student affairs, nonprofit management, or other relevant academic disciplineWORK EXPERIENCEPreferred
          • Professional experience advising and creating leadership development opportunities for students and/or student organizations
          • Experience in teaching and curriculum developmentSKILLSRequired

The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
